Mark, thanks for this log. It's great! I'm using it for MOYD this year.

I used it last year for the Team Chick/Team Dude challenge, but then stopped. Now it's got me going again...

You can always submit your records after the fact, so write them down till you're up and running. I'm sure he'll get back to you in a few days.

I am still getting THAT message. "My username is not on the list, please sign up." I sign up again, enter my password, check that box and then again, that message. Like a merry-go-round.

Am I doing something wrong?

wow! i LOVE this practice log!
i just started, and i'm stuck (at learning the notes on the staff).
i didn't feel like practicing today, and i really don't think i would've. . .but i really don't want to miss any days if i can help it in my practice log. so i got up to my piano and practiced.
i enjoyed myself once at the piano, and the practice log was a great motivator.

OK folks, what am I doing wrong. I'm caught in Kathleen's dilemma. I sign up properly and then when I log in it tells me it doesn't know who I am and that I should go back and sign up, whereupon it says, "yeah we know you, go log in." Whereupon it says again, "who are you, go sign it" and around we go.

Obviously I'm log challenged.

Regardless of who wins the Chicks/Dudes contest this month, we sure do have a fine long list now. Involved enthusiastic practice, I guess that what it's all about.

Piano*Dad - Enter user name and password - then hit enter (not logon) - if that does not work then I am of no more use to you.......

Alas, been there and done that.

Just keep trying. It doens't always work the first time, or the second, or the third - -there appears to be no rhyme or reason to it.

This is absolutely amazing. After trying umpteen times yesterday & today to get in practice room, I finally in desperation changed my name & immediately got in with no problem. Apparently the door-keeper is very temperamental.

there is a rhyme and a reason.

It's called a case sensitive, and properly typed username and password.

Same for me. I had to enter everything lower case and then it worked.

Same for me, I had to use a different name as well. But we are all in, so that's the main thing!

i was just wondering real quick.
is it okay for me to go back through my practice log, and update it for all the days i missed in logging all my info into it?
it's been about 2 weeks since i've recorded my information in my practice log, but i have practiced each day, and have written down what i worked on during the last couple weeks, as well as how long i practiced.
just wondering if it's okay to back track.

Yup, I got in and updated.

I'm not sure about this, but I signed up, and posted for yesterday and today. As a lawyer, at one point in my life, I hated keeping time sheets, and this smacks of that. But the competive aspect is fun and the middle aged smack talk is funny.

So, here goes . . .

My T1 line went down that day. We got it back up as soon as was possible. The up-line provider had an equipment failure which sent my TSU into a fit. A couple of traces and resets of the TSU did the trick.

Very happy to see all of you still using the practice log!

Is there anyway to find out my old practice log password ... or should I just sign up again?

It's been over a year since I used the log — or even, ahem, my piano. Long story I won't bother to tell. Anyway, I'm back and can't log in. Apparently what I thought was my password, isn't.

Never mind. I finally figured out my old password and have managed to sign into the log again.

This is for Markjpc - I am having trouble getting into the practice log after a year hiatus. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? I have tried logging in with lower case, then tried signing up again, which shows me how I originally signed up, then I try to log in again, and it says that I am not on the list......

I'd send markjpcs a private message and ask him to look into it for you... You can do that easily by going to the first page of the thread, second post, and then clicking on the icon showing an envelope with two people standing by it.

What is strange is that the year still comes up as 2006, but when you try to enter minutes for a month in 2006, it doesn't take.

Who is in charge of the Practice Board? Anyone know?

Yes, I wanted to see how much I totaled since my last lesson, but I can't get back into the practice log to check.

I believe you can go back and see your whole record from the very first date you began.

Log in as usual.
Up at the top, hit View Time Totals
The whole practice log for everyone will display.
Find you name, then hit "show log"
Your complete record will display.

Great--thanks, Kathleen. I went back and wrote it all down so I can see how much my extra practice has done for me. It's funny how my average was only 65 minutes per day, even though I feel like I've played so much more. It just goes to show you how those days where you never get to the piano really hurt you. I think MOYD may help me in that regard. I always want to practice, but sometimes I put it off. This way there's a reason I MUST go to the piano each day.

Just signed up. The code has a problem with the year on the webpage. You can enter times for 2006 but the drop-down list for the months only calculate for 2007 for some reason. I couldn't figure out a way to review logs for 2006. Also, there is an error message when you try to enter 2007 into the year. It says you need to select a year between 2005 and 2005. Other than that, it's a nifty website.

Thank you to whomever came up with this idea-- this is just the right spark to get me practicing seriously again.

My mind used to get all knotted up thinking how "bad" I had gotten over the couple of years, so the idea of sitting down and playing seriously had gotten to be more a source of anxiety than anything else.

Well, after three days of committed practicing I feel a lot better! (Why didn't I start practicing earlier? Now I feel dumb!) I am very energized and look forward to practicing tomorrow.

Anybody else felt something similar?

I, too, have been having problems with the website. It seems to be problematic about 1/4 of the time, on average. But for the last few days it has been more like most of the time. The last five or six times I have tried to log in it would not work at all.

I have been relying on the site to log my practice times. I appreciate it very much -- I recognize it is someone's kind gift to us. But I'm afraid I am going to have to stop using it, and go back to my old system (I have my own calendar software that I used to use for this kind of thing). Sorry I won't be able to continue contributing to the Dudes/Chicks battle.

I keep my practice log in a spreadsheet first, so that I can keep more focused notes and separate technique time from repertoire time.

Thanks for the gift of this on-line log. Hopefully it comes back soon.

Maybe it will even allow 2007 without complaint!

PS: I just sent email To: markj@inwave.com, the webmaster at the hosting site. But this bounced. Doesn't sound good for Practice Log....

All should be OK now.

I will be working on the interface over the next several weeks.

I want it to have more flexibility in selecting date ranges, years, etc.

It is a labor of love for me at this time. My real paying work tends to take precedence but with the new hardware and software in place it should be pretty rock solid.

Sorry for the downtime and the time it took to rectify the problems.

By the way, I'm a 35 year old elementary school teacher. I've loved the piano for years, but have never taken the time to get past the beginner stage... I've just had my first child (a beautiful 3 month old girl now), and am looking to make positive choices in my life. Learning piano has been something I've wanted to do for a long time and now I think is finally the time
